Basic understanding

A basic requirement in this respect is that the world's ecosystem should be preserved for future generations. This is something we want to achieve through using resources carefully and in a way that conforms to the applicable regulations relating to the environment.

Every company decision involves thinking about its consequences in terms of economic, social and ecological factors. Using what resources it can as an individual company, HB Protective Wear contributes to the welfare of global society and its ability to develop in a sustainable way. It takes the same approach to its business relationships within the textile chain. This requires consideration of globally applicable values and principles, especially those designed to ensure human dignity.

Our Code of Conduct is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ILO Conventions and selected agreements of the United Nations.

Our suppliers

Putting social responsibility into practice does not end with our employees: we also require our suppliers to adhere to the minimum requirements set out in this Code of Conduct. As part of this, our intention is to support them and motivate them to not just fulfil these requirements, but exceed them.

Our Code of Conduct is by no means a replacement for national legislation - instead, it is intended to act as a supplement to this. In the event of discrepancies between legal regulations and our requirements, the more stringent specifications apply in each case.

Checks and measures

In order to ensure compliance with the Code, audits are carried out within the value chain at regular intervals. These may take place unannounced and are performed either by employees of HB Protective Wear or by an independent third party. The audits also involve checking the systems, business areas and records that provide evidence for compliance with standards.

If authorised auditors are denied permission to carry out checks or make enquiries of this type, this constitutes a clear breach of the Code.

Our aim is to develop long-term partnerships with our suppliers so that, in the event that they do demonstrate minor deviations from our specifications, they are given the chance to put countermeasures in place within a reasonable period of time in order to prove their compliance once again. In the event of a breach of our Code of Conduct, or if it becomes clear that there is no willingness to make the relevant changes, we reserve the right to terminate our working relationship with the company concerned without notice.
