As an international company, encouraging and ensuring compliance with social standards in our production facilities and at our suppliers' sites is especially important to us. That's why we place particular value on social responsibility: we care about our employees and perform regular social audits.
Audits can be unannounced and are either performed by HB employees or independent third parties. These audits are based on work and social standards defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
Our inspections cover aspects such as compliance with regulations governing the ban on child and forced labour, discrimination as well as health and safety in the workplace. We also look to working time and remuneration regulations and check that we can prove that our facilities, office premises and records comply with these standards. Where optimisation is required, a corrective action plan defines specific steps. Refusing to allow authorised auditors to carry out such inspections or inquiries is tantamount to a violation. Our social audits help us to wake up dormant reserves whilst encouraging individual strengths by investigating the personal satisfaction of our employees. This leads to an increase in team spirit and motivation, and, in turn, a higher employee retention rate, which means that we can keep their knowledge in the company.
